Pandemonium Estate 2016 ‘The Beast’ Shiraz Grenache
It was so great to get back out to the Swan Valley on my trip to Perth in June. As you guys know, this Western Australian wine region holds a special place in my wine glass.
I didn’t have a lot of time in the Valley, but I managed to stop in at a few places quickly. Which was nice. One of those spots was Pandemonium Estate on Great Northern Highway, where I had a really nice Swan Valley Gin Co tasting. When I’m not drinking wine, you’ll typically find a gin in my hand 😉
My lovely friend Nicola, gifted me a couple of bottles of the Pandemonium Estate wines for me to enjoy with Mr Spittoon once I got back to Victoria. Therefore on a recent chilly night, we decided to open ‘The Beast’!
This 2016 Shiraz and Grenache blend is made from Swan Valley fruit and weighs in at 14% abv. So it’s perfect to warm you up on a chilly night.
Here are the notes Mr. Spittoon and I jotted down as we tasted our way through this bottle:
It’s a brilliant garnet shade in the glass. Notes of mixed spice, black cherries, sweet vanillin oak and a hint of earthiness rise from the glass. While in the mouth those cherries flow through with some liquorice and some soft, smooth tannins. It has a nice clean, dry finish that leaves you salivating for the next sip.
This wine was sent to me direct from the winery as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
