You may not be able to enjoy great food and wine out at the moment, but that shouldn’t stop you recreating the experience at home.
At the start of the year Wine Selectors gifted me (thank you!) their 2020 Chef & the Cellar Calendar Case which included 12 wines and a calendar with an exquisite recipe each month. The recipes come from some of the most amazing winery restaurants around the country.
For instance this bottle of Hollick Estates ‘The Bard’ 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia’s Coonawarra region is matched to Chef Justin Williams slow cooked beef cheeks. Yum!
I left this one in the palate of Mr Spittoon to taste and here are his notes (unedited by the way!):
- Deep ruby
- Aniseed blackcurrant cedar cherries
- Fruity black currant defined tannins at the finish vanilla
A juicy wine with a dry finish.
Watch out Robert Parker and Halliday, Mr Spittoon is crushing it 😉
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
