Goaty Hill 2018 Riesling – Tamar Valley, Tasmania
We definitely drank our share of Riesling on our recent trip to Tasmania! This 2018 Riesling comes from Goaty Hill Wines in the Tamar Valley, just outside Launceston in northern Tasmania.
I can’t tell you a lot about the winery as they were quite busy on the day we visited, so we literally just tasted and left. However, I can tell you at the cellar door they have some pretty cool goat art and tasting tables. See photos below.
Out of the wines we tried, we all very much enjoyed the Riesling. Here are my notes on it:
It’s a fresh lemon peel colour on the eye. On the nose it isn’t big, it’s fresh with a zest of lime with whiffs of Pakenham pears in there. In the mouth, it’s juicy with a sweet & sour nature to it. Think limes and oranges.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
