Dom Perignon 2005 Champagne
My husband aka Mr Spittoon finally joined our family business full time so to celebrate the end of his first week on the job we cracked this bottle of Dom Perignon 2005 that we had stored in one of our Vintec fridges.
We bought this from Dan Murphy’s last year as they had a good sale on. I can’t quite remember how much we got it for – I think around the $200 mark.
2005 was a pretty good year in Champagne. From Wine Spectator it was given a 90/100 – “Open-knit and approachable versions capable of short-term cellaring; Chardonnay fared best”.
Here’s what we thought of it:
In the glass it’s like a Milky Way of glistening yellow stars. Spiced pear, floral perfume and musk stick aromas rise up from the glass. While in the mouth it’s smooth, juicy, rich and sophisticated. We enjoyed every last drop.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
