Champagne Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve NV
12 hours of free-flowing Charles Heidsieck Champagne – heck yes!
Mr Spittoon and I splurged on our recent trip to Thailand. Instead of buying Christmas presents and after saving like crazy we decided to put our money on business class flights on Singapore Airlines.
The trip from Melbourne to Thailand consists of a 7-hour + 2-hour flight, with a stopover in Singapore.
Half of the decision to fly Singapore Air may have been to do with the Charles Heidsieck champagne onboard and boy it didn’t disappoint! It’s also worth noting that unlike the Melbourne and the Bangkok SG lounges that the lounge in Singapore also has help-yourself CH champagne.
So it’s safe to say, I got to know old mate Charles intimately 😉 This is one sophisticated champagne with a wonderful depth of flavour that gives your taste buds plenty of onboard entertainment, even at high altitude. It’s silky in the mouth with aromas and flavours of things like toasted brioche, florals, peaches and caramelised nuts.
At $97 a bottle from Dan Murphy’s, it’s safe to say between Mr Spittoon and myself we definitely got our money’s worth.
