Berton Vineyard 2018 ‘White Rock’ Chardonnay
Chardonnay can be oaked or not, in fact it’s a very versatile grape that can be made in a number of different styles (sparkling, still, dry, sweet – just to name a few). Which is one of the reasons why I love it so much.
I received this lovely sample of 2018 High Eden ‘White Rock’ Chardonnay from the lovely team at Berton Vineyard (thank you!).
This Chardy is made in South Australia from Eden Valley fruit. It spends 3 months on yeast lees and 6 months in French oak.
We recently enjoyed it on the patio while soaking up the last sun rays of the day. It was the perfect pre-dinner vino.
In the glass it’s a lemon-lime shade. You can smell that wonderful oak coming through on the nose with a dusting of vanilla spice, a slice of melon and maybe a hint of peach too. In the mouth it’s smooth, juicy and rounded with a great length of flavour. Great value for $22.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
