Aylesbury Estate 2018 ‘The Pater Series’ Chardonnay
Now this is a Chardonnay which shows ageing potential!
I recently received this sample of the Aylesbury Estate 2018 ‘The Pater Series’ Chardonnay from WA’s Ferguson Valley (thank you!). And it didn’t last long in our house.
The Gibbs family moved to the Ferguson Valley over 140 years ago. Since then their 22 hectare vineyard has remained in the family and has now been passed down 5 generations.
The Pater Series is a celebration of this.
“Pater is Latin for Father, and this series is a tribute to the five generations of fathers and their rare unbroken chain of succession.”
The wine is made from only the best grapes and…
- 25% new French oak for 9 months
- Cellar: 8-10 years
- Winemaker: Damian Hutton
- $55
Our notes:
Pale yellow shade on the eye. It’s very aromatic with smooth buttery oak,
golden delicious apples and fresh white flowers on the nose. In the mouth it’s got beautifully integrated oak with plentiful orchard flavours and a nice crunchy grapefruit tinged finish.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
