Atze’s Corner Wild Rose 2018 Vermentino
Mmmm I love Vermentino!
If you love fresh and crisp white wines, then you must hunt some out stat. Vermentino is an Italian white wine grape that is typically grown in Sardinia and Tuscany however you’ll also find it as the secret ingredient in many Provence Rosé (thanks for the insights Wine Folly)!
This example is made in South Australia’s Barossa Valley wine region by Atze’s Corner Wines. It’s only just been released and is part of their limited production Wild Rose range. I was lucky enough to be sent a sample by the lovely Toni at the Wine Marketing Hub. Thank you!
Fun fact about this wine: the vineyard where the grapes are grown is located nearby to many Penfolds Grange producing blocks.
In the glass, it’s a lovely lemon shade. The nose really had me intrigued, I found a whiff of salt air, citrus zest, freshly cut pears, peaches and a hint of pavlova. While in the mouth I was absolutely salivating over the juicy l lemon and lime flavours that ended with an apple-ly pear-like finish.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
