St Hallett Blockhead Barossa Shiraz Grenache 2017
New Release!
This St Hallett Wines 2017 ‘Blockhead’ Grenache & Shiraz blend hails from South Australia’s Barossa Valley wine region. It’s part of a new range from St Hallett which only launched in September 2018. The range also includes the St Hallett Blockhead Shiraz and a Shiraz & Cabernet blend.
“The new sub-range stems from the original European settlers in the Barossa township of Tanunda where St Hallett winery resides, who were known as Blockheads. The origin of the ‘Blockhead’ name is most commonly attributed to their stoic, square-jawed character and dedication to the land. The name has transcended the generations and is worn as a badge of honour at St Hallett.”
All 3 wines in the range retail for $27.
I found this Grenache & Shiraz blend an enticing red-purple colour in the glass with fresh raspberries, dark melted chocolate and smooth oak on the nose. Juicy plums and cherries come through on the mouth with a lick of spice and velvety tannins. Very easy to consume!
Thanks for the delicious sample guys!
