MyattsField Vineyards The Flyer Chardonnay 2014
When I’m in the mood for a good Chardonnay, I head to the cellar. I have a few stashed away in there (and by cellar, I mean the bottom of the laundry cupboard) that I’ve picked up along the way, including this Myattsfield Vineyards 2014 ‘The Flyer’ Chardonnay from WA’s Perth Hills.
I picked this up at a tasting we went to back in 2015 at MyattsField – it was a competition between the 3 winemakers using grapes from the same block.
It’s always exciting stashing away wine from events like this as it brings back a flood of memories when we end up cracking into it.
So 4 years down the track, did I still enjoy this wine as much?
Well, on sight it looked pretty darn tasty with a lovely golden shimmer to it. On the nose it makes me think of buttered popcorn, lemon rind, and nuts. While in the mouth it still has that elegance I remember with an incredibly smooth mouthfeel and notes of melon and lemon and a sprinkling of white pepper. It didn’t disappoint!
If you haven’t visited MyattsField yet, then you should! It’s only 30 minutes drive from the Perth CBD. Also, make sure to try the bubbles when there!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
