Logan Wines Weemala 2018 Pinot Noir – Orange
If you’ve been following along my tasting notes over the last few weeks then you may have spotted my tasting notes for the whites in Logan’s Weemala range. A big thank you to Logan Wines for sending me these new release samples to taste.
Alongside this 2018 Pinot Noir, there’s a Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris. All four in the range retail for a mere $20 – which is fantastic value if you ask me.
When learning more about this Pinot Noir, I came across the below quote from winemaker, Peter Logan, about this wine:
We have learned to approach our pinot noir very gently in the winery, with most ferments plunged by hand and basket pressed to old oak barrels or a tank to mature gracefully into a charming, pretty wine. This 2018 Weemala Pinot Noir has flavours of juicy cherry, red and black berries and bay leaf on a velvety smooth palate.”
How good does that sound? Well I decided to task my brother (his name is Logan) and sister-in-law with helping me write these tasting notes:
It’s a garnet shade in the glass with sweet and sour cherry notes on the nose mixed with a bit of baking spice and a bit of savouriness in there. In the mouth it has soft tannins, a super smooth mouthfeel and plentiful cherry flavours coming through too.
This bottle was sent to me directly from Logan Wines as a sample.
