Dovetail Vineyards 2017 & 2018 Pinot Noir
Dovetail Vineyards 2018 Pinot Noir
A big thank you to Cellarmasters for sending over this Yarra Valley Pinot Noir for us to sample. One of our rescue cats, Fizzy, absolutely loves wine bottle screw caps. Whenever she gets the chance, she’ll snatch the cap if we leave it off the bottle. Which means there’s always a stash of them under our couches!
It was great to try the recent 2018 vintage, having tried the 2017 around this time last year (see my tasting note below).
Here is what we thought of the 2018:
It’s a ruby red shade in the glass. On the nose I pick up sweet fresh cherries, musky spice, cranberry acidity and sweet cigars. While in the mouth those cherries flow through with notes of plums, a bit of smokiness and some nice fine tannins with well balanced acidity across the palate.
This wine was sent to me direct from Cellarmasters as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

Dovetail Vineyards 2017 Pinot Noir
Did you celebrate International Pinot Noir Day last week? Don’t worry if you didn’t because I think any day is good to enjoy a glass of Pinot! The lovely team at Cellarmasters sent this #sample of the Dovetail 2017 Pinot over for me to try recently.
Made from Yarra Valley (VIC) grown fruit, this Pinot picked up Best Wine of Show and Best Red Wine of Show at the 18th International Cool Climate Wine Show (ICCWS) on Mornington Peninsula.
It’s a ruby red colour in the glass with a whiff of savouriness followed by a warm berry pie full of raspberries and black cherries. In the mouth, those vibrant berry fruits continue with juicy acidity and a nice rounded mouthfeel.
