Margaret River Wineries: Edwards Wines

Tiger Moth at Edwards Wines Margaret RiverI finally have had a moment to finish this blog post as we actually visited Edwards Wines in Margaret River last year and what a beautiful spot it is! It was our first stop on our way back to Perth on the Sunday morning and we showed up eagerly at the cellar door just as they were setting up for the day. It was safe to say after seeing the bean-bags on the lawn overlooking the vineyard that we really didn’t want to go back to Perth but instead spend the day sipping on wine in the comfort of those bean-bags. New WA Cellar Doors to Check out in 2016

New Western Australian Cellar Doors to Check out in 2016Western Australia has to be one of Australia’s top wine travel destinations. We have 9 regions throughout the state and WA’s oldest wine region, the Swan Valley, is a mere 25 minute drive from the Perth CBD. We literally have wine at our fingertips and the best thing is that the wine industry in WA just keeps growing. Over the last 12 months or so we have seen a number of new cellar doors literally ‘open their doors’ to the public and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s time to give both your old favourites and the newbies some loving in 2016 and visit a cellar door or 5 in WA! Continue reading

Margaret River Wineries: Windance Estate

Windance Estate - Margaret River WineriesSo the other day, I was in our ‘wine room’ aka the spare bedroom and I was super excited to find we still had some vino from Windance Estate left. We’d visited the cellar door last October and I must have hidden this wee bottle away. And then… just as I was about to unscrew the cap I realised the bottle belongs to my Dad who has left it here in ‘storage’. Bugger! If you’re reading this Dad, you better hurry back to Perth soon because it’s begging to be cracked! As you can guess, it’s safe to say we really enjoyed our first visit to Windance in Margs.. Margaret River Wineries: Firetail Wines

Firetail Wines Range in Margaret River

I love it when you come across a hidden gem. Our stop into Firetail Wines in Rosa Glen, about 15kms out of Margaret River town was all thanks to my Dad. We were driving by after visiting The Berry Farm and he thought it would be a good spot to whet our palates on our way to lunch (which didn’t actually happen as we got caught up stopping for so many wine tastings – sorry Mum!). Top Quality Pours at Windows Estate in Margaret River

Giant Chess Set at Windows Estate Margaret River It was just so serene walking into the Windows Estate cellar door. Immediately all stress was left at the door and you just felt relaxed and caught that catchy laid back beach vibe of Margs. Typically when I visit Margaret River I have a handful of ‘must-visit’ wineries and the rest of the time I like to see what we come across. Windows was on the must-visit list thanks to a number of recommendations. Continue reading
