Bodegas DoCampo ‘Sampaio’ 2018 – Spain
I absolutely love the selection of wine Good Pair Days have online. There’s always something interesting! Including this sample bottle I received (thank you!) of the Bodegas DoCampo 2018 ‘Sampaio’.
Sampaio is an aromatic white blend. It’s made up of Torrontes, Godello, Palomino and Treixadura. These 4 grape varieties are all local Spanish varieties.
Bodgeas DoCampo is a family run estate in the Ribeiro region in Spain. Their estate is on the smaller side with just over 6 hectares, however they plant an array of different varieties so they can produce a wide range of styles.
Before I get stuck into our notes, I just want to say this wine smells amazing! It definitely lives up to its ‘aromatic’ title.
In the glass it’s a yellow-green colour. On the nose it’s so vibrant with crunchy green apples coming through alongside citrus zest and an interesting underlying toffee-apple note. While in the mouth those green apples come through alongside a hint of peaches and biscuits. This wine is screaming out to be teamed with a seafood dish. However saying that, it also went well with pour spicy nachos!
This wine was given to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
