The 25 Swan Valley Sparkling Wines of Christmas 2014 – 5th December
Tyler’s Vineyard Sparkling Grenache Rose
I love the rustic nature of visiting Tyler’s Vineyard. There are kids, chickens, sheep, geese and a dog roaming around the tin-shed cellar door. Tyler’s is a family owned vineyard who grow only one grape variety, Grenache. From this one grape variety they produce a white, rose, red, fortified and a sparkling wine. Wow!
The cool thing about this sparkling is you can choose from either of the two labels above or you can create your very own label to slap on the bottle right there at the cellar door! Either upload a picture from your phone or have your picture taken. I couldn’t think of a more perfect personalised Christmas present!
Anthony Yurisich from Olive Farm Wines helps with the winemaking on this one, as he does with the Tyler’s Pearl still white too. The Sparkling sells for approximately $25 at the cellar door.
Tasting Note
On the eye its a pretty peach colour with a slight bronze tinge to it. On the nose I pick up whiffs of red berries, rose petals and digestive biscuits, it’s very subtle and rather unique. On the palate it’s delicate, elegant and oh so pretty. Delicious flavours of strawberry shortcake and pomegranate red berry herbal tea. The perfect bubbles to sip on while waiting for Santa to come down the chimney (or while waiting for the kids to fall asleep!).
About Tyler’s Vineyard
Colin and Donelle Tyler have been growing grapes for the past 15 years and then selling these grapes off to the bigger wineries in the Swan Valley. Then in 2012 the Tyler’s decided that they wanted to make their own range of wines and start selling them from their very own cellar door.
As mentioned above, Tyler’s grow only Grenache grapes which comes from century old non-irrigated vines which were planted with the original vineyards of the Swan Valley. They are a family run business who will treat you just like part of the family when you step inside their cellar door. The cellar door over the past few weeks has undergone some changes, with a bit of expansion taking place which is great to see!
I love when you drive onto the property as no doubt Whisper, the gorgeous golden retriever will come to greet you! If you’re looking for a unique and super friendly cellar door experience, I would look no further than Tyler’s!
