The Fabulous New Windy Creek Winery Cellar Door – Swan Valley
Don’t you love being in the right place at the right time? Well thank-fully for me, some good friends just so happened to stumble across the official opening of the newly renovated Windy Creek Estate cellar door in the Swan Valley on Sunday 19th of March 2017 and sent me a message to let me know.
Mr. Spittoon and I were actually on our way back from the Perth Hills so we decided to skip the grocery shopping and instead pop over to Windy Creek! Wine over food right?
The new cellar door has been in the planning since ‘New Years Eve 2001’! I have to admit the hard work has definitely paid off! Windy Creek undoubtedly have an amazing view (their vineyard is about 55 acres I believe) and now plenty of people can soak this up from the wonderfully roomy cellar door (with a gorgeous long wooden tasting bench) or from the lovely outside patio area. The roses accentuate the greenness of the vineyard right now and I loved the view of the big stainless steel vats off to the side. So picturesque!
The new cellar door is such a beautiful addition to a wonderful Swan Valley winery that are known for their awesome fortifieds (I think it was their ‘white port’ which was the very first SV wine I heard about when I got to Perth!), affordable wines and top-notch customer service.
Okay so enough babbling, let’s take a look at it….
Here’s some of my pics before the new cellar door:
And after…
Here’s the lovely speech Tony & Ruth said at the opening in classic Windy Creek fashion (hopefully he doesn’t hate me for recording and publishing it) 😉

Tasting Notes
Here’s the wines that I have tried recently from Windy Creek Estate..
Windy Creek Estate Chardonnay
It’s a clear white gold colour on the eye with creamy melon and a touch of florals and lemon rind coming through on the nose. That melon continues onto the palate – it has a very crisp and fresh flavour. A $12 quaffer done right. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
Windy Creek Estate Verdelho
So what’s it like? Firstly it teams with a bubble bath & good book perfectly ? On the eye it’s a light yellow with a slight green tint. The nose is very grassy and herbaceous with hints of guava coming though. On the palate it’s easy drinking and definite value for money with pineapple, passion fruit and lemon flavours sticking out for me. All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
