Mandala Sauvignon Blanc 2018 Yarra Valley
New Release Alert!
Introducing the new Mandala Wines 2018 Sauvignon Blanc from Victoria’s Yarra Valley which Mr Spittoon and I tried recently over a sunny bbq dinner.
The Sauv Blanc grapes for this white wine were handpicked from a single vineyard (Orchard Block) at Mandala’s Dixon Creek vineyard. The fruit was fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks before being moved to old French oak barrels to build texture and complexity.
Fun wino fact: The newer the oak, the more flavour and characteristics it’ll impart on the wine.
Food recommendations: Shellfish, fruit platters and light fare.
I found this Sauvy a pale straw colour on the eye. The nose is rather floral and herby with wonderful notes of fresh passionfruit and tropical fruits escaping from the glass. In the mouth it’s on the lighter side with juicy citrus, honey blossom and pears coming through. Hello summer!
Thank you, Mandala, for sending over this refreshing drop for us to sample.
