What does your wine order say about you?
In my first year of university I lived with 4 other girls, which meant everyone knew exactly what everyone else was doing especially when someone was going on a first blind date. The setting of this particular date I was about to nervously go on was to be in a local coffee shop and since two of my flatmates worked in coffee shops they gave me advice on what coffee I should choose in order to send off the ‘right messages’.
This was new to me, but I thought what the heck. So I went with the white-chocolate mocha they suggested which supposedly would show off my trendy and a little bit sexy side. Though this sexiness completely went out the window when halfway through the date I ended up spilling the coffee all down myself, but hey I have to admit in the end it all had a happy ending!
So this made me think about ordering wine, and what ordering a Pinot Noir over a Cab would say about me to those who I am dinning with. Or if I were to order that glass of Chardy when out with the work crew, would it mean I would be in line for that promotion?
You order Chardonnay..
In fact ordering a Chardonnay shows that you like to be in control of a situation, you are quite a domestic being who keeps everything in its place. You like to dominate, whether that is the conversation, or perhaps in a particular room of the house….
You order Pinot Noir..
Now the Pinot Noir drinker is trendy, they like the finer things in life and are willing to pay for them. By ordering a glass of Pinot you are showing off your class, showing your sophistication yet your still approachable and have a soft side, even for those Payless Shoe wearing underlings.
You order Sauvignon Blanc..
Watch out for those who choose the glass of chilled Sauvy, they are the daring ones who could possibly be dancing on the table come 2am.
You order Cabernet Sauvignon..
On the contrary ordering a Cabernet exudes that you’re there for business, you’re dressed in your flashy suit and matching tie and ready to make that deal no matter how long it takes.
So next time your out for a business dinner, perhaps take a second look at the wine menu and consider what that deliciously refreshing beverage is going to say about you. Or perhaps order the most outlandish tipple you can find like that bottle of ‘Bloody Good White’ from BoonyDoon or ‘The Unpronounceable Grape’ from Hungary. Problem solved!
