I love reading about the health benefits of wine, it actually makes you feel really good for drinking it – its like after you have been to the gym, you immediately feel like you have done something really good for your body.
Of course with alcohol there are the conceptions that it makes you ‘slow’ and not up to your normal ability, which is true of course when you drink a lot. Though wine drinkers have a chance to rejoice over those non-drinkers who slain our choice to enjoy a good glass or too.
A study in Norway done on 5033 people has proven that wine consumption is independently associated with better performance on cognitive tests. Therefore a moderate amount of vino a week makes you smarter (wohhhoo!).
The main conclusions drawn from the 7 year study on men and woman ( average age of 58 ) supported findings from previous research which showed that;
Women who didn’t drink at all usually had lower cognitive abilities than those who did.
Woman who drink wine at least four times over a two-week period were at reduced risk of scoring poorly on the tests compared with woman who had less than one drink during the period
And the interesting one, which I especially know my boyfriend will like…
Drinking wine, but not beer and spirits, was positively associated with cognitive function in women, whereas both beer and wine consumption was associated with better cognitive test scores in men.
So there you have it, just another reason to skip that AFD and poor yourself a nice glass of red this evening. For more information, check out this site.

Before you next say you don’t like a wine, take a moment to think about whether you’re drinking it at the ideal temperature. If the wine is too hot, you will no doubt be slapped in the face with a big kick of alcohol, too cold and the flavours are muted, the acidity heightened and…

Sometimes I really struggle at wine tastings, especially when they’re full of wine industry people. My wine knowledge is nowhere near as good as it use to be as quite simply I’m not around it all day everyday.
Disclosure: Qantas invited myself and Mr. Spittoon to attend the epiQure Wine Fair. This unique event put on by Australia’s leading airline is designed to showcase the Qantas epiQure Wine Club’s…
Yes you read that right folks – wine in a can is coming to Australia soon (well it better be!). Thanks to my lovely friend, Lara, she gave me a heads up this week about Sparkke Change Beverage Company and their absolutely bubbling new venture – White Wine Bubbles in a can for marriage equality!
It’s so hard to know what’s going to be good or better for you, alongside what’s just hype or a buzzword when it comes to healthy living. When you hear the term ‘preservative free wine’ – what do you think? For me, I immediately think it must be better for me – the more natural a…
